Watching and making films

Do you love films? Want to try making one? Check out what you could do in Oxfordshire!

Maybe you watch lots of films at home or at the cinema, but did you know that you could get involved in making them too?

Oxfordshire is home to many cinemas, several major film projects, and an annual young person's film festival called Summerscreen so there’s plenty to get involved in.

Enjoying cinema

If you like watching films, you have many options to choose from in Oxfordshire. All the big cinemas will show the latest releases and some offer special showings for children which are cheaper than at most other times. If you live in a village then sometimes halls, community centres and other places organise special showings too, so keep your eyes open for what's on in your area.

Getting into film and video

If you think that you might like to get involved in making films when you’re older, why not start now? Groups like Film Oxford offer summer courses for young people aged 8 and over where you can learn about different ways of making films, cartoons and other types of animation and moving pictures. It’s great fun and you could find a talent you never knew you had!
